Hanging Out with Bradley and Jamie

Landon and I hung out with Jamie and Bradley Volbrecht on Thursday, October 1st down in Belmost Shores (Long Beach area). It's not often we get to see them. In fact, the last time we got together, about 7 months ago, I was still pregnant. Bradley decided to take a dip in the water. Check out that saggy diaper.

Playing Ball with Daddy and Bergie

Every day when daddy gets home he takes Landon outside to throw the ball to Bergie. Its Bergie's favorite time of the day as she is the biggest ball dog ever. Daddy takes the bat and ball and hits balls to Bergie down the long driveway. Landon gets a kick out of watching Bergie run and play. Since its getting a bit chillier in the evenings, Landon is wearing his bear sweatshirt outfit.

Maya Montoya celebrated her 2nd birthday at Pump It Up in Irvine. The theme...Yo Gabba Gabba (something mommy had never heard of before but apparently I'll know about all these kid programs soon).

Two Become One- Jeff & Leanne Wed

On Saturday, September 26th, Leanne Vecchione and Jeff Richardson wed in Los Angeles. It was sooo hot that day. Somehow we only have pictures of all the dancing. Landon loved dancing with mommy and daddy!

On Saturday, Sept. 19th Landon went to his first birthday party. His friend Kana McCue turned 1-year. Kana's party was held at a local park in Redondo Beach.

While we were at Target tonight, Sonje showed Landon a baseball glove. Apparently he liked it because we had a hard time getting it back from him. We didn't buy one because he's obviously too little but we got a kick seeing him holding a glove. Cutuest future baseball player I've seen.

On Thursday Landon and I met Aunt Kirstie and cousin Bella at the LA Zoo. We had a great time together. There are so many babies at the zoo right now. We saw baby snow leopards, baby koala bear, baby kangaroos, baby gorilla, and other baby animals but I don't remember the names. The jaguar was awake and pacing its cage...talk about a beautiful creature. We had front row view of the giraffes. My little monkey enjoyed watching the monkeys, or chimpanzees. We also saw a black bear, ostrich, seals, foosa and lumars (like in Madagascar) and much more. It was a wonderful hot day at the zoo. Can't wait to go back. Thanks Kirsten and Bella for letting us come with you.

PS- Most of you probably don't know this but I was going volunteer my time as a Docent at the LA Zoo this time last year but when I found out I was pregnant, I had to call off my training. Still something I'd love to do one day because I just ADORE animals!!!

Talia Taggart

On Wednesday, Talia Taggart made an early appearance. Joanna was due the 13th of October so her and Christopher were surprised when Talia decided she was ready to enter this world. She's a tiny little thing. Congrats to the new mommy and daddy! We love you!

Spending some time together

Earlier today Landon had more shots... :( But, the day isn't so bad. Grandma Haven, Great Grandpa Jim and Auntie Joy came to visit us. We all went to lunch at Pancho's Mexican Restaurant in Manhattan Beach and then went back to the park to feed the ducks and other birds again today, oh and the turtles too. Grandma pushed Landon in the stroller and I got my workout pushing Grandpa in his wheel chair. Needed a workout after my taquitos.

Today Landon was pretty fussy so we decided to go for a little adventure. I took old bread to a nearby park where we sat on the benches and fed the ducks, pigeons and seagulls. Most the bread went to the seagulls as they were big bullies going after all the pieces we were throwing. Landon was entertained and during that short park trip, he wasn't fussy.

Note to self... next time when it's been a day like this, bring LOTS more bread.

!! BIG NEWS ALERT !!

On Saturday, September 12th, Landon slept in his crib for the first time during the night. Up until now he had only been napping in his crib and was still in his co-sleeper, or rather...or BED up until Saturday. Amazingly he did so well too. Went down at 9:30ish, woke up around 1pm but all I did was turn on the ceiling fan and he fell back asleep and then woke up at 5:45 to feed. Yay for Landon. I have to say though I'm not liking it. I miss him soooo much. Although I didn't get the best night sleep with him cuddling right up to me and taking much of the bed (it's possible), I still feel a void when I look over and he's not right next to me. I cried last night. Sure we have him on a baby monitor and I can see him but it's not the same. In fact, I wonder if the baby monitor makes it seem like he's even further away than he really is. He's just growing too fast already. Unless he's sick, scared, etc, he'll probably never sleep with us again. :( I want him back in my bed but I guess this is the right thing for all of us....

Grandparents Day!!!!

Yesterday, Sunday, September 13th was Grandparents Day! In honor of this occasion we hosted a BBQ. Grandma & Grandpa Haven, Eric & Michelle with Ethan and Madison, Papa John & Ama with Kajsa, Kirsten with Bella and friends Terry with Kana, came to the casual party. We enjoyed visiting, eating and hanging out in the back yard. Wish Grandma & Grandpa Taggart lived closer as they were missed at the party. According to Sonje we've created a new tradition.

Today Sonje took a sick day (cough cough). We went to the post office and turned in Landon's passport paperwork as both parents need to be present when a minor is applying for a passport. Afterwards, we met Meredith, Aunt Kirstie, Cousin Bella and Kristin, the little girl Meredith is the nanny to, down in Seal Beach. It was so incredibly windy we didn't stay for long. We were sand blasted. Afterwards we went to Coldstone for ice cream; except mommy couldn't have any because of the dairy-free diet she's on.

Passport

Landon had a passport picture taken. We are hoping to use our time share to book a vacation or two within the next year. Have baby will travel...that's our motto. We want to get Landon in the travel mode. Plus, he flies free until age 2 so we better get jet setting. :)

Ouch!

Just before bedtime...you would never know he had blood taken that day. He is always so sweet

Over the holiday weekend Landon had some more blood in his spit ups. He hadn't done that since we took him to the ER a few weeks ago. Just Thursday, the doctor gave him the okay to go off the Zantac but for me to keep to a dairy-free diet. However, within one day of stopping the Zantac medicine, the blood was back. So.... being a nervous first-time mommy, I called the specialist back and he put orders in to have more testing done on Landon. So Tuesday afternoon, September 8th we went to the outpatient lab to get blood work done on Landon. There are testing for various food alergens (wheat, soy, dairy, egg, etc), plus they are also testing for bacteria should there be an ulcer. We won't have the results back for a few weeks. Poor Landon though. He had to get his blood taken just like we would out of our arm. He sat on my lap and they tied the rubber band around his bicep, put the needle in his arm vein and drew his blood. He DID NOT like that...screamed his head off. Poor baby. We all know how much that process hurts, especially when the "dig around" for the vein. I felt so horrible for him. He got a yellow bee bandage put around his arm. Little guy knocked out in the car on the way home...he was so traumatized. Now he's got a nasty looking bruise there. Doctor said if test results come back negative they will have to scope.

On Sunday we went to Ama & Papa's house for a (Pre) Labor Day party. Landon was so funny. He's decided he wants to drink water out of a big cup or water bottle just like a big boy. We've given him the bottle/cup before and he even tries to hold it by himself. He gets frustrated that we hold it for him. Okay people...he's 5 months old. Are we in trouble or what? So we were giving him water from the glass and every time we took the glass away, he would throw an absolute fit. It was quit comical. He was so head strong about drinking his water.

Pool Day at Monique's

Yesterday we went to Monique's new home party and hung out by the pool. Check out my sweet, big/little baby boy...

Also, the video is a crack-up but I'm still trying to get it uploaded. It was the first time he's been this active in the pool. He was so fun to watch as it was all his own doing....

Kana and Landon

Kana and Landon are going to be nice friends. Kana, who celebrated her 1-yr birthday on Sept. 2nd, is just 7 months older than Landon. Kana's dog, Kiwi, is one of Bergie's (our dog's) boyfriends. That's actually how me met the McCues...local dog park. Our families have become good friends over the years and its fun for mommy to have a friend her in the South Bay with a baby close to Landon's age.

Aquarium of the Pacific

On Thursday we met up with friends Kristi, Daniel at Lauren at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach. We saw all sorts of cool sea life including sharks, sea horses, dragon seahorses (mommy's favorite), stingrays, eels and much more. It's amazing how many species exist in the big blue ocean. Thanks to Daniel and Kristi for helping mommy and Landon at lunch when Landon had a melt down and wanted to nurse. Mommy had to nurse right there at the table in the Cafe and that is something she's so uncomfortable with. Next time....bottles of pumped milk instead.
