Landon's 3rd tooth has arrived- front left. Landon hasn't cut a tooth since November. We've been wondering when a new tooth was going to make its big debut. Plus, he's been really bothered lately so we figured it wouldn't be long. This was definitely a painful breakthrough. It's too bad we have more than 3 teeth because I don't know that we can keep going through the crankiness over and over again....it's brutal.

It's Raining Men
Mommy & Me
In addition to the mommy and me we are doing through our church, we also signed up through the city for their mommy and me program. This group meets every Thursday morning. It's a more formal gathering with an actual curriculum for the kids. We went for the first time on the 11th. The class includes about 20 mommies and their kids. For this gathering they had a gentleman come in and discuss baby proofing your home. He gave us all sorts of good ideas; things I never even thought about. Unfortunately the downfall about this class is most of the kids are younger than Landon. We may be switching to the next age group up. Landon was one of 3 kids that were crawling everywhere, using the walkers, and such. Some of the kids were significantly younger and that's because they had some young babies in there. The baby class was too full so they put the overflow of those babies in this mix of kids. I wasn't real happy about that as you have 2/3 month olds and then you have the 10 month olds- big difference. Next time we go we are going to pop into the next class and see if it'll be a better fit for Landon. I'd rather have him with the older kids as I think he'll learn more from them rather than being "stuck" with all the younger babies. I really like though how structured the class is. It'll be very informative and fun as we meet other kids and mommies. I'm excited for the next class.
MOYC
Mothers of Young Children-
a ministry at our parish. It's basically mommy-and-me for our church. Well, on Wednesday, Feb. 10th Landon and I went for the first time. I decided we both need to make some new friends down in our area and that it would be good for Landon to be around other kiddos his age. The group meets every other Wednesday from 9:30-11am. Landon had fun but he didn't interact with the kids much. He was just excited by all the commotion and was off and crawling everywhere. I didn't have a chance to visit much with the other ladies because Landon was constantly on the go with me chasing after him. However, I think it'll still be a great thing for both of us over time.

Dinner with the Caicedo's- Friday, Feb. 5th
Sadly our dear friends Carol & Luiggi Caicedo will soon be moving to Ecuador. Over the last 6 years, we've developed a very close relationship with them. It all started when Luiggi answered an ad for a bass player in "The Recycler". Sonje's band was looking for a bass player and Luiggi was the musician they choose to be part of their rock band. Since that time we've become so close. We were there when Luiggi proposed to Carol on New Year's Eve several years ago, we traveled all the way to Ecuador for their wedding in 2006, celebrated the purchase of their home in Reseda, etc. They of course were around to help us build our home, celebrated Sonje's big 30th surprise birthday weekend trip in Vegas, welcome Landon's arrival, and so much more. We've shared a lot together. West Rd will be loosing a very important member of the band, but more than that, we'll be loosing our dear friends. With so few weeks to enjoy their company before their big move, we had them over for dinner. Landon just loooooved Luiggi and was in rare form, totally hamming it up with is buddy, "Uncle Luiggi".
Making Up His Own Games
Landon is so funny. He's always creating his own little games. He plays little games when he is sitting in his high chair, when he's in the bath tub, etc. Sometimes his little games include his "babies", often his ball where he rolls it all around the house talking to it, he even plays games with his socks. He puts a sock in each hand and talks back and forth to the socks and crawls around the house keeping his socks in his hand, or his mouth. Another funny game is where he squeezes himself under the kitchen chairs or bar stools. It's like it's his own little fort. It's amazing to watch him. I wish I could get into his head and know what's going in that little brain of his.
