Another Cousin Born

On Monday, Nov. 10th, Ryah Moshier was born. She is such a cute little chunkster. Since the Moshier family lives in Florida we'll have to wait to meet her until this summer. Mom and baby are doing well and we send our love.

Daddy Feels Baby for the 1st Time

On Wednesday, November 5th (same day as our big doc appointment) Sonje and I were getting ready to go to sleep when I told him to put his hand on my tummy. I had previously asked him to do this several times before but the movements weren't strong enough for him to feel, only me.

But... this time when he put his hand on my belly, sure enough he felt the baby "kick". It was so neat. He kept his hand there for a little bit and felt a few more movements. It was so exciting for us since we could both feel the baby inside now.

As my mother-in-law said, we'll have to wait to see if it was a football kicker kick or a chorus line kick.

The BIG appointment- Nov. 5th

Okay, so I'm a little behind on my blogging.

Last Wednesday, we had our big doctor's appointment. Sonje took a half day from work so he could go with me. Besides our normal doctor's appointments, he hasn't been able to be there for the last few ultrasound visits. This was the 18-week appointment where they do all sorts of measurements on the baby, test vitals, etc. It's also the anatomy appointment but we told the doctor we didn't want to find out the sex. So far baby is looking good. We got to see the baby swallow on the video monitor and he/she was kicking its little feet like crazy. At one point, the baby even crossed its feet. So cute to watch the screen. Sonje and I could sit and do that all day long. Quite fascinating. Since the doctor left the gender of the baby out of his report, there's no turning back now. We have to wait on the sex of the baby at this point no matter what.

Berg version of MTV Cribs

That's right, check out my crib yo! Today we put together Baby Berg's crib. It only took maybe 20-30 minutes to put it together but by the time the crib was finished, daddy and Bergie needed a nap. What Sunday afternoon lazy butts. The monkey in the crib is baby's first stuffed animal given by Grandma & Grandpa Taggart. It was purchased from the little diner where we had breakfast and gifted to us after the big announcement.

Rumble in my Tummy

The last few days I've had some tummy rumbles. The book says at this point I might start feeling the baby move and I'm guessing that is what is happening. Very slight movement inside. The book says it's so slight it could be mistaken for gas. hee hee. I'm thinking its my baby moving around in there. Pretty exciting. But... since this is a new experience for me and I'm still a little unsure if what I'm thinking is my baby moving around, I'll have to wait a bit more until I'm 100% positive my tummy rumbles are in fact baby Berg.

A Good Bill of Health

Today was another routine doctor's appointment: weight check, blood pressure testing, hear baby's heart beat, etc. Doc gave us a good bill of health. So far I'm doing good with my weight gain, babies heart sounded good, blood pressure was good and... the doc said my results came back from the sequential screening and those came out good too. Yeah!!!

Westrd Groupie in the Making

Saturday night, October 25th, was baby Berg's first Westrd gig- well, sort of. Westrd was back at Joxer's doing their thing. Mommy only stayed for the first set, came home early and crashed. Can't quit handle late night shows these days.

Calpurnia Reynolds is here!

Amber & Mark Reynolds' baby has arrived. It's a Girl!!!! They too wanted to be surprised with the sex of their baby. Calpurnia was born Sunday morning (October 26th), making her and baby Berg second cousins (to Sonje it's his first cousin once removed- aka his cousin Amber's little one).

My "other" kids are sooooo excited!

a message from Mr. Berg:

My whole school now knows that I am expecting my first kid.  You wouldn't believe how excited they are, especially my 7th and 8th grade girls.  I never expected such a reaction, but they are so excited; they talk about it all the time.  They went crazy in class when I told them, stayed after class to see pictures and went and told all their friends.  They first wanted to know what it was going to be, and when I told them that we were going to keep it a surprise, they were very concerned on how they were going to get clothes for a baby they didn't know the sex of.  But they quickly got over that and started "planning" to have a baby shower at school.  Shannon is their favorite person right now.  They keep asking when Shannon is going to come to school so they can meet her, and made me promise that only the girls will be allowed at their shower.    It's been very cute and endearing.

More pics of our Little Alien (I mean Angel)

Today I went back to the Magella Medical Group to do more bloodwork and to determine the length of my cervix. To my surprise, Gale, the technician, did another ultrasound so we could have more pictures of our alien-looking angel. She took 3 pictures using their new 4-D ultrasound machine. You can see how mushy the babies head is. Gale said that it's normal since the babies skeleton takes the longest to develop. That's why babies are born with soft spots on their heads. Weird looking but scientifically very interesting. For now, I had a good report. I'll go back in 2 weeks to again be tested. Our bloodwork results should come back in about a week so we'll pray we pass those with flying colors.

Daddy's Little Girls...

aren't little anymore. It's official that Kayla (Taggart) Armstrong is also pregnant. She is due June 1st. Between Michelle & Eric's baby Madison that was just born, Casey & Nikki's baby to be born next month, our baby due in April and Kayla & Austin's due in June- that's a heck of a lot of infants for the Taggart side in just 9 months time.

My Cousin Madison

A note from baby Berg:
Yesterday, Sunday October 12th, my cousin Madison was born. We'll only be about 172 days apart.

Beach Cities Know

That's right... today I told the doctors at the chiropractic office that I'm expecting. They were shocked and excited for Sonje and I.

Prenatal Yoga

Well today was mommy's first day with prenatal yoga. The class is every Thursday. Hopefully the class will help mommy stretch and get physically and mentally prepared for my arrival. One of the ladies in the class was almost a week overdo so our class got to "dance out the baby" today. Interesting, yet fun, experience. The class is 6 weeks and we'll see at that point if we will sign up again. In the meantime, Namaste.

The Cat is out of the Bag

For the last several days we've been sending out email announcements and on Tuesday and Wednesday, we mailed our formal announcements to additional family and immediate friends. It's been so amazing getting everyone's reaction. We are so blessed to have so much love and support. It's been so fun to hear, read, whatever, people's reaction to our blessed news. We're so grateful that everyone is excited with us and sharing in our joy!!!! Included is a sample of the formal announcement that was sent.

A True Heart Throb

It's been a busy past few days. On Friday, mommy put together announcements and sent an email out to friends about me and my expected appearance date. Yesterday, Sunday, she found a Munire crib on Craig's List. Today, Monday the 29th of September, mommy and daddy heard my heart beat for the first time. The doc said it sounded good. Mommy and daddy were so happy to hear my beating heart although Daddy wished every office visit included an ultrasound for a little peak at me. After the appointment, they drove all the way to Temecula to pick up the Munire Majestic crib they found on Craig's List. So my nursery is underway. Mommy and daddy will need to buy furniture pieces here and there over the next several months as I'm already expensive. Here's a picture of pretty crib. Tomorrow, mommy will send more announcements out.

Prayers

Yesterday, Sept. 24th was a long day. In the morning, mommy got a call from Dr. McKindsey saying her screening came back with too high of levels of THS. Although mommy didn't know what any of this meant, the doctor said she was to get a second opinion from an endocronogolist. Mommy's thyroid is off and is making her metabolism too high. Of course, you can only imagine how upset mommy was, especially after reading about it online. I know she is worried about me developing properly. She may have to go on medication to keep me safe. Poor mommy. She was so sad. The doctors appointment is in a couple of weeks so keep us in your prayers. St. Gerard, pray for us.

News is Slowly Getting Out

On Tuesday, Sept. 23, mommy and I met up with Grandpa and Grandma Taggart at Downtown Disney for lunch. Grandma and Grandpa are down in So. Cal for their anniversary and wanted to do Disneyland. Too bad I'm not tall enough to ride the rides just yet (hee hee). We had a yummy lunch at Rainforest Cafe. Sadly, grandpa couldn't find me in the ultrasound pictures. Maybe he needs to get his eye surgery again. I thought it was a nice picture of me but poor grandpa couldn't seem to understand what he was looking at.

After, mommy went to Miss Nicole's house to visit and see my future friend, Maysie. While there, mommy eventually showed Nicole my ultrasound pictures. Of course she was really happy. From the Brown household, we went to Miss Kristi's house to visit. Again, mommy waiting before telling Kristi the good news. To cheers, Joe gave mommy a glass of milk in a wine glass. That was really cute of him.

Mommy is now slowing getting the word out about me. Pretty soon you'll all know...in due time.

Picture Perfect!

Today Grandma Haven came out to go with mommy to her doctor's visit because daddy had school and couldn't be at mommy's 9:30am appointment. At the doctor's mommy did the first part of the sequential screening to test for down syndrome. She'll have to go back in a couple weeks to do part II of the test. While there, mommy and grandma watched me on the baby monitor. At first I was sound asleep (on my head like a hands stand). The nurse had to push on mommy's belly to get me moving. It took some time but I finally awoke and started moving around. I changed my position and moved my arms and legs around. I even waved to mommy and grandma (see picture). Mommy said it was so surreal to see me moving. I hope you like the pretty pictures of me.

After the doctors visit, grandma and mommy went to lunch and went to a baby store to show grandma all the cute things. Apparently mommy already knows how she wants to decorate the nursery for me if I'm a boy, or..if I'm a girl. Well, its too early to tell just yet and besides....it's a surprise remember! I can comfortably say it was a nice day for all. Love, Baby Berg
